AI/Security

NRD manufactures radioactive sources for applications such as Random Number Generation to your specification. Beta emission is random and triggers a sensor randomly.

NRD is a radioisotope manufacturer of sealed sources for various applications, Gas Chromatography being one of them. Polonium 210, Americium 241, and Nickel 63 are used to help separate, identify, and quantify sample mixtures with reliable results.

Ion Mobility Spectroscopy

NRD is a radioisotope manufacturer of sealed sources for various applications, Ion Mobility Spectrometry being one of them. Polonium 210, americium 241, and nickel 63 are used in this analytical method involving both ionizing a sample and analysis of the ions formed to help separate, identify, and quantify sample mixtures with reliable results. The ions produced are separated by their different velocities through a drift gas in an electric field.

NRD’s ionization sources are well suited for analytical IMS detection especially when fast detection in the field to identify toxic chemicals or chemical warfare agents is urgent. The advantages of using NRD’s radioactive sources include; no need for power, not limited by strict lifetime constraints, and very stable. IMS is used extensively by customs, border authorities, military, and security. This application is also used frequently for explosives detection.

NRD also offers a comprehensive repair and replacement service for Electron Capture Detector source materials where we are able to service, test, clean, repair and/or replace foils made of nickel sources.

NRD also offers disposal service for all makes of Electron Capture Detector’s nickel source such as Agilent, Perkin Elmer, Shimadzu, Varian, and Hewett Packard.

Recycle & Disposal

NRD offers disposition services for our americium 241 and polonium 210 sources. nickel 63 from all manufacturers is accepted for disposition.

For customers looking to replace their current radioactive source, the NRD team can investigate matching their current source using information provided by the customer, which can be the serial number, model number, or a Special Form Certificate (SFC). We can also assist in safely disposing your current source.
